Ungewöhnlich Weiter Wohnen, Bremen

The use of cellular construction units, developed by Ernst May in Frankfurt am Main and in the Soviet Union, is clearly present in Neue Vahr. The housing programme was accommodated in collective residential buildings surrounded by green spaces. The edges of these neighbourhoods often consist of building ensembles that are diagonal to the street grid.

The apartments along Kurt-Schumacher-Allee form such an ensemble that is situated diagonal to the street. Six linear buildings covered with white tiles contain apartments with entry stairs in front. The ensemble is adjacent to a large park. The buildings and the landscape elements have a strong, unchanging character.
