2003 Convention of Baukultur

On 4 and 5 April 2003, the Convention meets for the first time in Bonn. Subsequently, it elects a steering committee from among its members. Beginning in 2003, the members of the steering committee take on the following duties related to the further establishment of the Foundation: determination of the overriding themes and main tasks for the Foundation and the following Convention; technical preparation and personnel decisions for the Convention of Baukultur; collaboration on the legislative proceedings; and development of proposals for themes and contributing authors for the second Baukultur Report.

In the steering committee, all significant areas of Baukultur are represented: Regional planning, urban design, architecture, civil engineering, housing, urban sociology, historic monuments preservation, and the world of art and culture.

The second Convention of Baukultur, originally planned for 18 and 19 November 2005 in Berlin as a festive kick-off to the Foundation’s work, has been cancelled due to the premature end of the legislative period and the resulting temporary failure of the legislative procedure for establishing the Federal Foundation of Baukultur.
