Baukultur Report 2018/19
The Federal Foundation of Baukultur is currently preparing the Baukultur Report 2018/19 – entitled “Heritage.Presence.Future” – which addresses built heritage and the challenges for the future viability of our designed environment. Among other issues, the report thematises energy upgrades of existing architecture and infrastructure – particularly from the era of post-war modernism – as one of the largest building tasks in the years ahead. The Baukultur Reports 2014/15 “Built Living Spaces of the Future – Focus City” and 2016/17 “City and Village” have already highlighted the importance of the existing building stock with regard to its identity-creating effect and Baukultur potential – for example, with a view to space and CO2 savings. In addition to relevant influencing factors for a successful renovation culture, the Baukultur Report 2018/19 provides current facts from municipal and population surveys and presents examples of contemporary renovation culture. The recommendations for action that have emerged are aimed at representatives from politics, administration, planning, the building industry, as well as all interested participants in Baukultur. The Baukultur Workshops, the Federal Foundation of Baukultur’s main event format, support the content-related development of the Baukultur Report and serve as a platform for the interdisciplinary exchange between experts and the interested public.
